JEOL ClairScope Correlative Microscope

The JEOL ClairScope is the first of its kind and only one of two available outside Japan. Winner of a 2010 R&D 100 award, the ClairScope allows imaging of samples with both widefield fluorescence and atmospheric scanning electron microscopy (ASEM). Using a proprietary sample holder with a 100nm silicon nitride window, users can acquire correlative data from a wide range of specimens including cultured cells, tissues, liquids, and gels. The ClairScope can be used for correlative ultrastructure examinations and immunocytochemical studies. The complimentary information from optical microscopy and the high spatial resolution of ASEM can be used to observe dynamic phenomena such as crystallization or electrochemical reactions in real time.

The ClairScope is in BIF on long-term loan from JEOL Technics LTD.
